INTRODUCTION:
Established in 2012, Craft Afrika is part of the A55 Group of companies.
Operating as a social enterprise, Craft Afrika provides business support to micro and small enterprises within the craft/artisanal sector in Afrika.
To this end, the organization has achieved various milestones including:
- Launching the first ever locally produced website (www.craftafrika.org) that focuses solely on providing business content to the local and regional craft sector
- Publishing the first and only Africa-focused downloadable Ebook on the craft
- sector. The book, titled “The Artisan Business Handbook: A Reference for Micro and Small Entrepreneurs in Africa,” has seen close to 2,000 downloads
- Hosting the sector-specific monthly meetup “Jumpstart Thursday” regularly for 3 years
- Producing the annual Afrika Handmade conference and product showcase that attracted international speakers and participants
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research, propose and develop new growth strategies and opportunities
- Identify and secure resources necessary for new and existing projects
- Prepare and make presentations to potential project partners
- Write grant applications
- Draw up and oversee an annual budget
- Create a one year roadmap and action plan
- Create mailing lists and send out regular communication
- Represent the organization in various stakeholder meetings
- Revive and manage all logistics of both the bi-monthly meetups and annual conference
- Develop productive synergies with like-minded institutions
- Regularly publish blog articles on both the website and various social media platforms
- Widely promote the organization’s Ebook
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- 1-2 years professional experience working in the craft/artisanal sector specifically or creative industry at large
- Experience in proposal writing and fundraising
- Experience in creating and maintaining dynamic mailing lists
- Software competence in the relevant programs
- Experience in writing SEO-friendly blog articles and creating social media posts
- Experience in a leadership capacity

- Strong work ethic and therefore an ability to deliver on JD with little to no supervision
- Desire to independently travel locally and regionally
