Women Vendors Exhibition and Forum 2016: Call for Applications

 

International Trade Centre (ITC) and Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey welcome applications to the 2016 edition of Women Vendors Exhibition and Forum (WVEF), 1-2 September 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Now in its fifth year, WVEF is considered one of the most influential business gatherings in support of Women’s Empowerment Principles, which call for gender empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community.

Announcing WVEF 2016, Executive Director of ITC Arancha Gonzales observed that empowering women in business required multiple strategies and as such, WVEF and SheTrades provided opportunities to “help women overcome these barriers.”

In the past years, WVEF has been hosted in Chongqing 2011, Mexico City 2012, Kigali 2014 and Sao Paolo 2015. During this period, more than 1000 enterprises from over 50 countries have participated in the forum, benefiting from global networks, increased business capacity and business worth over US$50 million.

To qualify, enterprises must be:

  1. Woman-owned (defined as 51% or more owned, controlled and managed)
  2. Duly registered
  3. Working within WVEF’s focus sectors for 2016: Textiles & garments, tourism and ICT & business services
  4. Based and operating in a developing country or in an economy in transition (as defined by this list)
